Bidco tackle Western Stima in NSL top-of-the-table clash

What you need to know:

  • Leaders Bidco United visit Western Stima at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
  • Both teams have accumulated 14 points but the Thika-based side sit top on a superior goal difference.
  • Only two goals separate the two teams who have registered four wins, two draws and a single loss each.

With the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) on a break to pave way for Harambee Stars’ friendly matches against Comoros and Central African Republic, action has shifted to the National Super League (NSL), with eight matches on cards this weekend.

Among three fixtures scheduled for Saturday, leaders Bidco United visit Western Stima at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

Both teams have accumulated 14 points but the Thika-based side sit top on a superior goal difference.

Only two goals separate the two teams who have registered four wins, two draws and a single loss each.

Bidco coach Leonard Saleh is wary of a threat Stima pose to his charges.

“The last time we played in Kisumu we suffered a heartbreaking loss to the hosts (Kisumu AllStars). We played well in that game only that the referee wasn’t fair, we hope this time round the match officials will do their job without compromise,” Saleh told Nation Sport.

“Our aim is to make steps by raking in positive results in each game. It’s only by winning that we will achieve our target of finishing top,” he added.

BANKERS TACKLE EVANGELISTS

At the Camp Toyoyo grounds in Jericho estate, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) takes on Eldoret-based Golden Field Evangelism (GFE) without Coach John Kamau and two of their players in strikers Brian Yator and Chrispinus Onyango who are in Uzbekistan for friendlies with Kenya U23 team.

Assistants Moses Irungu and Elvis Ayany will take charge gunning for a win after battling to a 0-0 draw with St. Joseph’s Youth last Saturday.

On Sunday, a fierce contest will be witnessed when City Stars hosts Tuzo-sponsored Kibera Black Stars, two teams that command support from Kawangware and Kibera slums.

“City Stars are a good side despite their current position on the log but it’s always a tense fixture whenever we meet. We want to do our job by tussling for maximum points to end our two game winless run,” Black Stars tactician Godfrey Oduor said.

Black Stars are placed third on 14 points, seven ahead of the John Amboko-coached side, who have only two wins this season.
