    BSE Smallcap index outperforms benchmark Sensex

    Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 were trading in the green, while 39 were in the red.
    NEW DELHI: The BSE Smallcap index was outperforming benchmark Sensex in Friday's trade, although the index was trading marginally down.

    The BSE Smallcap index was trading 0.06 per cent down at 17,744 around 12:05 pm (IST), while the benchmark BSE Sensex was 0.81 per cent down at 33,412. The NSE Nifty50 index was 0.82 per cent down at 10,274.

    Smallcap stocks Kwality (down 7 per cent), Gujarat NRE Coke (down 6.73 per cent), Ricoh India (down 4.99 per cent), Gammon India (down 4.91 per cent), Gitanjali Gems (down 4.63 per cent), Arcotech (down 4.56 per cent), NIIT Technologies (down 4.16 per cent) and Mawana Sugars (down 4.14 per cent) declined up to 7 per cent in Friday's trade.

    However, shares of 63 Moons Technologies (up 11.74 per cent), Sintex Industries (up 11.26 per cent), India Tourism Development Corporation (up 11.21 per cent), Navneet Education (up 10.37 per cent), Ruchi Soya Industries (up 10.18 per cent) and MMTC (up 10.06 per cent) zoomed over 10 per cent among the smallcap stocks.

    Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 were trading in the green, while 39 were in the red.

    In the 30-share Sensex index, only 5 stocks were advancing, while 25 were declining.

    Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra were trading with a gain of over 1 per cent in the Sensex index.

    On the other hand, shares of Tata Motors tanked over 2 per cent in the Sensex index.
