FARMINGTON—The Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Railroad (SR&RL) is pleased to announce it has received a generous grant of $1,352 from Franklin Savings Bank in support of enhancements to the beloved Fly Rod Crosby Trail.
The funding will be used to install two large metal park benches and elevated trash receptacles along the trail. These upgrades are designed to improve accessibility and encourage stewardship of the natural landscape, offering residents and visitors alike welcoming spots for rest and reflection.
“We understand the value and importance of maintaining this historic trail and honoring the role the railroad played in the Phillips community,” said Courtney Austin, AVP, Marketing Director at Franklin Savings Bank. “It’s encouraging to know that, with the help of other like-minded individuals, this trail will continue to be a place people can enjoy for generations to come.”
The Fly Rod Crosby Trail continues to grow in popularity, with locals frequently gathering for walks, nature observation, and even wedding ceremonies. Just this past Friday, a wedding ceremony was held at the scenic bridge abutment — a heartwarming reminder of the trail’s significance to the region.
The Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Railroad expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Franklin Savings Bank for helping bring these improvements to life.
