This view is almost 100 years old and the picture was taken from what is now a car park.

The Watford Observer has again teamed up with its friends at Watford Museum to look back at structures, objects or businesses from the town’s past that have either disappeared or been relocated and this week we look back at a view of High Street from what was one of the most deprived parts of Watford at that time.

“On the left with lettering on the side was the Kings Head (demolished) and to the right, with four pots on the chimney, is the One Bell (now Taco Bell).

“The building between them in the distance is on the atria side of the High Street, two doors up from the HSBC bank.

“I am not sure however, what the boxy building is on the left.”
