List of 6 Global Experts Tapped to Indonesia's Danantara Investment Board

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Anagata Nusantara National Investment Management Body (BPI Danantara), announced the organization's structure, what it called a "dream team", in Jakarta on Monday, March 24, 2025.
In addition to Indonesian citizens, several international figures have joined the Advisory Board and Managing Director team of Danantara. Who are these foreign nationals serving in the Indonesian government's sovereign wealth fund (SWF)?
1. Ray Dalio
Raymond Thomas Dalio, or Ray Dalio, is an Advisory Board member of Danantara. Before this appointment, he met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, March 7, 2025.
Dalio is the founder of Bridgewater Associates, a major hedge fund managing US$124 billion or around Rp1.984 trillion (with an assumed exchange rate of Rp 16,000). He established Bridgewater Associates in his Connecticut apartment in 1975.
Forbes estimated Ray Dalio's net worth at US$14 billion in 2024, making him the 124th richest person in the world in the year. He was also listed in TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World for his impact on global economic policy
2. Jeffrey Sachs
Jeffrey D. Sachs is also an Advisory Board member of Danantara. Born on November 5, 1954, he is an economist, academic, and a leader in sustainable development. Sachs earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard College in 1976 and a Doctor of Philosophy from Harvard in 1980.
Currently, he is the Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University. He also served as Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University from 2002 to 2016.
3. F. Chapman Taylor
F. Chapman Taylor is a portfolio equity manager with 33 years of investment experience. He has been with Capital Group for 29 years.
As an Advisory Board member of Danantara, he brings experience from his previous work as a consultant at SRI International and Strategic Planning Associates. He advised companies in Southeast Asia, the United States, and the United Kingdom on business strategies.
Taylor holds a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelor's degree from Tulane University. He is based in Washington, DC.
4. Thaksin Shinawatra
Quoting Britannica, Thaksin Shinawatra, born in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on July 26, 1949, is an Advisory Board member of Danantara. He served as the Prime Minister of Thailand from 2001 to 2006.
He entered politics in 1994 as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He held the position for three months until the government fell. The following year, he was elected as the leader of the Palang Dharma Party after winning a legislative seat in Bangkok. According to Forbes, Thaksin was the 11th richest person in Thailand in 2014, with a net worth estimated at US$2.1 billion or around Rp 34.65 trillion (an assumed exchange rate of Rp 16,500) in 2024.
5. Lieng-Seng Wee
Lieng-Seng Wee is the Managing Director of Risk and Sustainability at Danantara. Based on his personal LinkedIn account, he has 20 years of professional experience in banking, consulting, and risk management.
He holds a Bachelor's degree from the National University of Singapore and an MBA from the Wharton School. He also has certifications from Harvard Business School. He founded Dragonfly LLC, a consulting firm with offices in New York and Singapore, in 2000.
6. Yup Kim
Yup Kim is a member of the Danantara Investment and Portfolio Committee. According to his personal LinkedIn account, he has been the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) since 2024. He also worked at the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation (APFC) from 2016 to 2020 and CalPERS from 2020 to 2024.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Yale University. He has received recognition as the Top 30 Private Equity and Venture Capital Investor in 2019 from the CFA Society New York, the Top 30 Sovereign Wealth Fund Rising Star award in 2016 from Trusted Insight, and was acknowledged as a 40 Under 40 by CIO Magazine in 2017.
