Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, participated in the meeting of the Joint Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on the Developments in Gaza with Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The meeting took place in Cairo at the invitation of Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptians Abroad of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The high-level discussions were led by Dr. Abdelatty and included foreign ministers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the State of Qatar, the State of Palestine, the Republic of Türkiye, the Republic of Indonesia, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Additionally, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States and the Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) were in attendance.

The meeting focused on the ongoing crisis in Gaza, particularly the recent escalation of Israeli attacks, the collapse of the ceasefire, and the worsening humanitarian situation due to restricted aid delivery. The committee also discussed the Arab plan for recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, along with preparations for an international conference on early recovery and rebuilding efforts, which is set to take place in Cairo.

A joint statement issued at the conclusion of the meeting expressed deep concern over the continued hostilities and the rising number of civilian casualties. It called for the immediate and full implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the exchange of detainees. The statement also emphasized the importance of advancing to the next phase of the agreement, which includes the release of all hostages and establishing a lasting peace.

The participants welcomed the Arab recovery and reconstruction plan, highlighting its significance in ensuring the Palestinian people remain in their homeland. They also strongly rejected any forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, warning of the serious consequences such actions could bring.

Bahrain’s delegation to the meeting included Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, and Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Al Turaifi, Head of the Arab and African Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
