Saleh Al-Kaabi of Qatar captured one of his nation’s top events, the 39th Qatar Open Amateur Golf Championship title at Doha Golf Club, the inaugural event of the newly established Arab Golf Series, created by the Arab Golf Federation.
The Arab Golf Series is set to transform golf in the Arab world by enhancing competition, identifying and nurturing emerging talent, and providing Arab golfers of all levels with a clear pathway to professional success.
Al-Kaabi shot a two-under-par 70 in the final round, edging out Egypt’s Issa Abou El Ela by just one stroke, to finish with a total of 213. His victory not only secured the title but also earned him a spot in the prestigious Commercial Bank Qatar Masters on the DP World Tour.
“We are thrilled with Saleh’s outstanding victory,” said Walid Saad, Media Coordinator for the Qatar Golf Association. “His dedication and progress in the sport are remarkable.”
“The Qatar Golf Association has worked hard to elevate this tournament and develop local talent. Al-Kaabi’s win is a proud moment for Qatar and an inspiration for future golfers.”
Qatar’s Daniil Sokolov, who held the overnight lead, struggled in the final round, posting a six-over-par 78 and finishing in third place. Defending champion Calum Fitzgerald from England was tied for fifth with Qatari golfer Ali Al-Shahrani at 227.
