Heavy rains forecast for several parts of Oman

Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), has warned citizens and residents of heavy rains ranging between (20-80) mm associated with active downward winds and hail that the Sultanate of Oman may witness on Thursday, May 2,2024.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), said in its alert No. 1 that with heavy amounts of thundershowers accompanied by active downward winds and hail expected until Thursday night in the Governorates of Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, North Al Sharqiyah, and Dhofar, with rain amounts ranging between (20-80) mm leading to the flow of reefs and valleys, and scattered rains of varying intensity over the governorates of Musandam, Al Wusta, and South Al Sharqiyah.

 The Civil Aviation Authority calls on everyone to exercise caution during thunderstorms, not to cross valleys, avoid low-lying places, and not to go to the sea during the alert period.

 Alerts :

1. Heavy rain accompanied by hail ranging between 20-80 mm, leading to flooding of reefs and valleys.

2.  Active downward winds, speeds ranging between (15 - 40l knots (28 - 90 km/h).

3. The height of sea waves on the coasts of Musandam Governorate and the Sea of ​​Oman ranges between (2-3) metres.

4. Reduced horizontal visibility during thunderstorms.
