In the case of Latex, there are some series side effects including death that can be associated with the use of Latex. This use of the word may be extreme, however to be in the13% percent that may have a chance of having this happen to, is to high for Dr Weiner. This is not his attack on Latex or Latex companies. To the contrary he would like to be able to open a dialog with them to see how the harmful protein we are referring to, can be changed or substituted. There currently are 3-4 substitutes for Latex gloves, however each needs further research. Dr. Weiner began to describe that the side effects are allergies to latex. During Dr. Weiner's research, he then found the amazing fact that wearers of Latex gloves, and people exposed to ongoing contact with Latex may have serious pre-existing allergy to the material or develop allergic conditions with constant use. Latex is a protein contained in the sap of the Brazilian rubber tree (Hevea brasilliensis). Dr Weiner then went on to discuss his ongoing work finding other materials that are used to produce gloves, like vinyl, PHP, etc. The center of which is his ongoing research with the non-biodegradability of Health care gloves. He then went back to the subject of the health hazards of Latex. He spoke of a few more warnings that can help people, who have certain food allergies, may have allergies to Latex. This is sometimes called a Cross reaction. A few examples of some of those food items include chestnut, hazelnuts, wheat, rye, tomatoes, avocados and peaches.
