MBABANE – Did the Central Bank of Swaziland Governor, Majozi Sithole, allegedly give the bank’s General Manager Financial Regulation a rope to hang himself before charging and suspending him?

Mbongiseni Nkambule is facing a disciplinary hearing after being charged with insubordination, insolence and misconduct, allegedly culminating from a weekly meeting of the bank’s executive committee.

Nkambule, who was also served with a letter of suspension together with the charge sheet, alleged that during the meeting held on March 27, 2018, after presenting his departmental report, he was asked by Sithole if there was any other thing he wanted to talk about.

Nkambule, who has approached the Industrial Court for an order stopping the disciplinary hearing, said he outlined a number of issues he was unhappy about in the workplace, which touched on him and his department.

The veracity of these allegations is still to be tested and the governor is still to respond to them.
He stated that after registering his concerns on how he was being treated by the bank, the executive committee allegedly resolved to work around the clock and address the issues he raised.

Nkambule, who is represented by Kwanele Magagula of Sithole and Magagula Attorneys, alleged that the charges he was facing now came as a result of the things he complained about when asked if he had anything more to say after making his presentation during the meeting. “I have subsequently received a suspension letter with disciplinary charges, calling me to answer on charges of insubordination on April 25, 2018 based on what I complained about at the Exco (Executive committee) meeting, after being requested by the governor as chair to voice any other thing that may need to be addressed,” Nkambule submitted.
