'I wanna just punch her in the face': Jennifer Garner jokes about THAT viral meme of her shocked expression during the Oscars

Jennifer Garner became a viral meme after the 90th Academy Awards, when the camera caught her looking suddenly aghast as she clapped in the audience.

And the 45-year-old proved once again she is a good sport as she revisited the hilarious memes that took over Twitter briefly after the incident.

Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Garner admitted she has a hard time looking at the moment captured on film.

She told the talk show host: 'I can't even look at it. I can't. It's too embarrassing,'

'I have no control over this [expression],' she admitted before adding, 'What am I doing?'

'I started getting texts as you can imagine, people saying, "What were you thinking? What was happening?" And I try really hard not to see myself online but she's a little unavoidable.'

She went on to joke about herself: 'I wanna just punch her in the face.'

However, she appeared to not remember why she had that expression on her face: 'I wish I had a better story about it!'

But it was just two weeks ago the star poked fun at herself the day after the video went viral.

On her Instagram Story the following Monday, Jennifer jokingly added voice-over to the clip, giving various versions of what she was thinking during that moment, including: 'Congrats to Shape Of Water. Maybe I should date a fish.'

Guillermo Del Toro's The Shape Of Water, which won Best Picture, stars Sally Hawkins as a mute woman who falls in love with an amphibious humanoid creature embodied by Doug Jones.

Jennifer posted the viral clip of her a second time, with a voice-over vamping: 'Hey, Jimmy Kimmel, what's in your wallet? Wait, where is my wallet?'

Jimmy was hosting the awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, having served as compere at last year's Oscars as well.

His fellow network late-night chat-show host Jimmy Fallon has starred in commercials for the bank holding company Capital One, and in them he intoned their popular marketing slogan: 'What's in your wallet?'

It is likely Jennifer was accidentally conflating the two men for this joke.

During Jennifer's third stab at adding voice-over to the same clip, she said: 'Can't wait to work with Lena Dunham - wait, did I sign a nudity waiver?'

Lena, who created the HBO sitcom Girls, and Jenni Konner, who showran that series, are remaking Julia Davis' Sky Atlantic series Camping for American TV.

Jennifer's Instagram quip was referring to the fact that she is starring on the Camping remake, and that Lena frequently got naked while leading the cast of Girls.

At Sunday night's Academy Awards, the mother-of-three - who is divorcing her husband Ben Affleck - dazzled in a floor-length blue Versace gown.

The camera picked up her shocked moment during an applause break, and Twitter was sent spiraling into a predictable frenzy.

Jezebel writer Bobby Finger shared the clip and wrote: 'What realization did Jennifer Garner just come to?,' earning more than 141,000 likes and 26,000 retweets.
