Clarendon Hall announced Wednesday the receipt of a $15,000 grant from First Citizens Bank for construction of the Saints Wellness Center at the school. The facility will be adjacent to the Clarendon Hall gymnasium and “will promote strength training and wellness not only for athletes but for all students,” according to a release. The building will house a new weight room and training center with treadmill and elliptical machines. “This has been a longtime need, and our students are excited about having a facility dedicated to physical fitness,” said Headmaster Phillip Rizzo. “I sincerely appreciation First Citizens Bank’s grant and its ongoing support of Clarendon Hall. This center will be an inspiration for present and future Saints.” Founded in 1965, Clarendon Hall is one of the most well-established schools in the area. The independent, co-educational school holds classes for children in K3 through 12th grades. In addition to being a founding member of the South Carolina Independent School Association, the school is AdvancEd accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. First Citizens Bank South Carolina East Area Executive Mike Wolfe said the company is proud to support the construction of an athletic facility for Clarendon Hall’s students. “These students are our future, and we applaud the school’s efforts to provide a quality education, encourage a healthy lifestyle and prepare students to make successful life choices.” Wolfe said he hopes the facility will provide “a place where children can be inspired to reach their highest potential.” The school has launched a capital campaign to raise funds needed for the project’s construction. Because Clarendon Hall is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, all contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
