The Association of Corporate Counsel Hong Kong (ACCHK) held an engaging fireside chat on 13 March at The China Club in Bank Street, Central.

The event featured Jon Witts, head of enforcement at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), and Kit Wilson, executive director at the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), discussing enforcement, corporate governance and compliance culture.

Kat Kukreja, ACCHK president and legal consultant at Lawyers on Demand, along with Justine Vicky Tsang, assistant general manager and legal counsel at China CITIC Bank International, moderated the event. They led a deep dive into the regulatory realm with Witts and Wilson, who shared their journeys from private practice to critical roles in the regulatory arena, highlighting key experiences along the way.

The conversation shed light on the essential work of enforcement teams and explored the foundations of good governance and strong banking culture. The generosity of Consilio and Lawyers On Demand, as sponsors of the event, underscored the collaborative spirit of the gathering.

Reflecting on the chat, Kukreja said:, “We heard about what a typical day looks like, and also learned more about how the enforcement division operates, including some good practices for engaging with the enforcement team.” “My sincere thanks to my co-moderator, Justine Vicky Tsang, for her insights, and to Jon Witts and Kit Wilson for sharing their time with us.”

The event highlights ACCHK’s dedication to cultivating in-house counsel with opportunities for learning, networking and knowledge sharing, reinforcing its role in Hong Kong’s legal scene.
